Ready For School

Big Lottery Early Education Project

Home-Start North West Leicestershire is to receiving funding from The Big Lottery for five years starting in April 2015 to undertake a new and exciting project to improve the early educational experiences of young children primarily in the Greenhill and Agar Nook areas of Coalville. The project will bridge the gap between home and school while supporting parents in their own homes with one to one support to help with the importance of early education and preparing their child for their first formal education.

Ready for School   Focus for Support

> Engaging with your child, for example reading books together or singing nursery rhymes to support early development, concentration and relationships.

> Helping to develop routines such as meal time and bed time which will help children to understand the routines of the school day.

> Increased opportunities to socialise with other children and adults which increases confidence and vocabulary.

> Helping parents to understand the importance of praising and encouraging their children so that they can respond to praise and encouragement from  teachers.

> Generating new ideas of how to play with children  including creative play.

> Supporting parents to take up their Free Early Education Entitlement to ensure an early start for their child’s education.

> Empowering parents to accept the importance of their own needs including working in the voluntary sector or in paid employment with the possibility of gaining the confidence to seek further educational opportunities for themselves.
